Kentucky Revised Statutes – Two Planner’s Perspective on Land Use

Course Description: A look at how the Kentucky Revised Statutes govern local planning activities and how they impact both the local planner and surveyor. The session will look at how communities, while still operating under the same statues, may have different regulations, how those regulations can be changed, and who’s responsible for making those changes.

Brian Davis, AICP is a Planning Manager for Louisville Metro Planning & Design.  During his 18 year professional career he has also worked for Oldham County Planning & Development, where he spent four years as the Assistant Director.  He has a B.S. and M.S. in Geography with an Emphasis in City & Regional Planning from Western Kentucky University and has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners since 2005.  Brian is currently the Professional Development Officer of the American Planning Association – Kentucky Chapter.

Brian R. Howard, AICP is the Executive Director with the Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Commission and has been AICP certified since 2005. He has a master’s degree in Geography with an emphasis in City and Regional Planning and has been a land use and transportation planner since 1999. He is the current American Planning Association – Kentucky Chapter President and also is an adjunct geography instructor for Western Kentucky University.
